Thought it might be worth update you all on what’s been going on for the last few months, and why there hasn’t been much Ric Neale action. As we’ve mentioned before, Ric, along with Spencer Bayles and Ivan Mack, has started a new band called The Housekeeping Society. Check out the website to see updates of their progress and videos about the music they’re trying to make. They are working on a new single to introduce the project called “The Wheel” which should be out some time before the summer.

Also, Ric is working hard helping Will Richards produce his second album “One More Chance” which will be out very shortly, and features Ric on piano, bass, guitar, mandolin, accordion and much much more. Watch this space for details of its release. Ric is also recording a new EP with rock journalist Simon Warner, reprising a musical partnership that began over a decade ago. This will be available at some point over the next few months. Expect gigs to go along with all of these new releases.

Someone Else's Home EP cover

busy, busy, busy. the new EP 'Someone Else's Home' is now complete and on its way into the world. Ric and the team are scurrying around putting finishing touches to the artwork and getting it sent off to itunes, where you'll be able to purchase it very soon (we'll let you know). They're also planning some filming, so very soon you'll be able to put faces to names via the means of youtube. check out the 'events' page to see a couple of gigs that have been added. plans are being hatched as to how to launch the new EP, which will probably revolve around a gig, a party and some booze but we'll keep you posted. The EP consists of six brand new Ric Neale compositions on which he has been ably assisted by Spencer Bayles (formerly of Last Night's TV), former Rent drummer Ivan Mack, the Laundrette Poets' Missy Claughan on cello and Loqui's Stu Hudson. The songs were recorded and produced by James Bradshaw (who produced "Seemed Like A Good Idea at The Time"), fellow singer/songwriter Will Richards and new to the fold, Jamie Vizard. The songs are largely acoustic in tone. included is the song 'Dotted Line' which is taken from the artist Joe Simpson's 'Almost There' project. The London launch (at which Ric will be appearing) is on February 20th (see poster below for details)

Thought it would be worth mentioning a couple of projects that Ric has been invited to be involved with. First off, long time collaborator Spencer Bayles (formerly of Last Night's TV) is putting together a new studio project under the name of The March Greens which Ric has been asked to be involved. The planned EP will feature the help of a couple of Ric's long time cohorts, Ivan Mack and Will Richards. The EP is being recorded next month and is hoping to be released sometime before summer, but we'll keep you posted. Ric will also be supplying live music to a theatre show called "There Are Shadows", the brainchild of Iain Bloomfield, poet and theatre director. The piece will be performed at Bradford Theatre in the mill in summer and will be based on some of Iain's poems. It will be quite a creative departure for Ric, but he is looking forward to the challenge.

Ric, Spence, Stu and Ivan had a back-breakingly tough day in the studio yesterday putting down all the tracks for the new EP. Amazing help was recieved from Brad who produced the last album and the incredible Will Richards, both of whom worked their fingers to the bone plugging in mics, checking levels and going to the chippy. Ric's going in to do the vocals next week and then the mixing will commence - watch this space for more details...

Message from Ric: "How do everyone. We've been working hard to update our presence on the web and now we think there's lots more for you to see and do. Not only can you buy both albums in mp3 format from isound (see music page) but there is a free album of acoustic versions of the songs for you to download there as well. We've also added a new blog (see interact page) which chronicles, amongst other things, the agony and ecstasy of making the last album. There are more photos as well featuring me and the band at some recent gigs, and we've also completely overhauled the myspace page."

"As if that wasn't enough, we've also been working on a load of new tunes which will hopefully make up the next record. We start recording early June so watch this space. Thanks for your continued support."
